There are many really superb writers and authors out there who change the way we think with some of their words, just a small sentence of symbols and letters can mean something extraordinary, we call these, as you probably know, 'quotes'. they are one of my favourite forms of inspiration, so I thought we should take a look at a few of them. My Top 6 Roald Dahl Books.

Sorry, I haven't posted in a while, I've been a bit busy, but I thought I should do a little Top 6 because I've been doing Roald Dahl reviews I'm going to do MY (emphasizing on 'My') Top 6 Roald Dahl Books, this completely depends on opinions but this is MY opinion, soon I'll put out all these books into a poll and YOU can choose your top 6. Anyway, Here goes!

No. 6 Esio Trot


This is a brilliantly illuminating book, it tells a story about a very shy man who loves a very lovely woman and they are brought together by a tortoise. This book is a short one, it only has around 60 pages but it tells a lot in those short pages. It has another of Roald Dahls Books of Brilliant Brilliance as I like to call it, as do most of the books on this list though this one is the least brilliant of this list for one thing alone, Mr Hoppy (The Man) is very dishonest about his trick, he should have asked Mrs Silver to be his wife in the first place, instead of swapping... Oh, sorry, I got a bit carried away, you'll have to see my Esio Trot Book Review for the details. Onwards!

No. 5 The Twits

Brilliant! Absolutely scrumdiddlyumptious! (extremely scrumptious; excellent, splendid; (esp. of food) delicious.) I would have a right mind to put this book further up in the list, but we have better books to put in that place. Eyeballs in drinks, frogs in beds worms in spaghetti, this book is revolting and yet fantastic, I also have a review of this book, So go and check it out!

No. 4 The Witches

'Children should never have baths,’ my grandmother said. ‘It's a dangerous habit.’, and 'One Child a week is fifty-two a year. Squish them and squiggle them and make them disappear!' are just a few of the stupendous quotes in Roald Dahl: The Witches, It's about a little boy who is turned into a mouse by a witch and with the help of his grandmamma finishes off all the witches in England! It'll make your sides split and your brain burst with another classic of Mr R. Dahl.

No. 3 The BFG

This was a difficult choice between Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the BFG but eventually, I settled on this decision. It's a book about a little girl called Sophie who's carried away by the Big Friendly Giant (BFG) who can't talk properly and lives with a bunch of big unfriendly giants who eat people, so Sophie and The BFG go to see the queen and ask her to get rid of them all and she does exactly that. This is an especially Brilliantly Brilliant book, with the Frobscottle, Dream-catching, Human Bean nipping and so on.

No. 2 Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

This is Roald Dahl's second book for children, and a jolly good one it is too. A poor little blighter called Charlie only gets one chocolate bar a year and finds himself getting a golden ticket to the tour of Mr Willy Wonkas Chocolate factory, on the way a boy is nearly turned to fudge, a girl is turned into a giant plum, a spoilt brat finds herself down the garbage shoot and a TV watcher is turned to the size of a pencil, and so Charlie a very poor little lad is given the chocolate factory to run, and to live in! This story is up in 2nd place because... well... it's just stupendously genius, it's so addictive and funny, emotional and shocking. This book makes you feel so warm inside and I nearly cried when I found out I had finished the book, I highly recommend this book. I suppose this brings us to Number 1!

No. 1 Matilda

I cannot express how much I love this book, this book sums up Roald Dahl for me, Matilda is so intensely scintillating I feel as though I'm in Miss Honeys class myself, this is definitely the best of R.D. for me.

Matilda is a bookworm ho spends hours in the library, she can read anything and complete any sum and the age of five, but her parents aren't so appreciative of her abilities, and when she finally goes to school, her teacher, Miss Honey is shocked at her genius, but the school head, is not so impressed, Miss Trunchbull hates all children and throws them across fields by the hair, and it turns out that Miss Honey, as sweet as honey, is not so distantly related to the headmistress. I do believe that Roald Dahl is more genius than Matilda in this book, Roald is a Legend!

Esio Trot Book Review

I put a poll on google plus to see if I should review Fantastic Mr Fox or Esio Trot and well... Esio Trot won! so here's my review.

Esio Trot

Book Review

Esio Trot is another of Roald Dahl's children’s classics, it was first published in 1990 by Jonathan Cape. It as 62 pages and is illustrated by Quentin Blake, the price is roughly £4.00

Characters

Mr Hoppy is a very shy man who lives alone in an apartment building he grows beautiful flowers on his balcony.

Mrs Silver is a very kind woman who has a tortoise called Alfie which she loves very much.

Alfie is Mrs Silver’s tortoise.

The Pet Shop Owner owns the pet shop which sells the tortoises to Mr Hoppy

The Tortoise Catcher is a very long, extendable device Mr Hoppy invents to hold tortoises.

Story

Mrs Silver lived in the apartment directly below Mr Hoppy’s, Mrs Silver’s balcony jutted a bit further out so they were able to speak to each other. One day Mr Hoppy was speaking to Mrs Silver and she said that she yearned for Alfie to grow bigger since he only gained three ounces in eleven years, this gave Mr Hoppy a plan, he said he knew a way for tortoises to grow, he gave Mrs Silver a piece of paper and he said to read this to Alfie three times a day and he will grow twice as big in a few months. This was what the piece of paper said:

ESIO TROT, ESIO TROT,

TEG REGGIB REGGIB!

EMOC NO, ESIO TROT,

WORG PU, FFUP PU, TOOHS PU!

PU, WOLB PU, LLEWS PU!

EGROG! ELZZUG! FFUTS! PLUG!

TUP NO TAF, ESIO TROT, TUP NO TAF!

TEG NO, TEG NO, ELBBOG DOOF!

This is ‘Tortoise Language’, according to Mr Hoppy tortoises are very backward creatures so if you want them to understand what you say, you have to say it backwards, so the translation is ‘Tortoise, tortoise, get bigger bigger! Come on, tortoise, grow up, puff up, shoot up! Spring up, blow up, swell up! Gorge! Guzzle! Stuff! Gulp! Put on fat, tortoise, put on fat! Get on, get on, gobble food!’ Mrs Silver said she would try it, so Mr Hoppy got to work, first, he went to the pet shop and bought One-hundred-and-Forty different sized tortoises, then he made the Tortoise Catcher.

The next day, Mr Hoppy found a tortoise in his collection that was exactly 2 ounces more than Alfie, then using the Tortoise Catcher he took Alfie from Mrs Silver’s balcony and replaced him with the almost identical tortoise number 2.

Every week he got another tortoise from his collection exactly 2 ounces heavier than the last and replaced it on Mrs Silver’s balcony. At the end of the seventh week, Alfie (or not) had become 27 ounces in weight! But because Mr Hoppy’s plan was so slow, Mrs Silver had not noticed the growth, so when Mr Hoppy told Mrs silver to weigh ‘Alfie’ she came out astonished and asked Mr Hoppy to come down and have tea, and as you’d expect Mr Hoppy asked Mrs Silver to be his wife, and of course she said yes, and Mrs Silver became Mrs Hoppy and they lived happily ever after… 

    The real Alfie had been bought by a little girl, and she         still has him now (or at least when Roald Dahl finished     his     book)

 Conclusion

I love this book, it was one of my first ever read, but there is one thing that I disliked even when I was about 6, it’s the fact that Mr Hoppy faked the tortoises growth, It’s extremely dishonest especially to someone you want to be your wife, but I suppose he couldn’t have gone and told Mr Silver because she would have obviously split up with him.

Roald Dahl made an object like the tortoise catcher, but it was to pick things up from the floor to save his painful back.

Ok, I shouldn't really bother asking you all because you're not going to answer, but anyways!

I've decided to keep with the Roald Dahl vibe and do another book review on one by him, so I'm going to ask you *Anybody* if I should review the amazing children's book 'Fantastic Mr Fox' or (One of my personal faves) 'Esio Trot' (Tortoise backwards) or any other books that you want a review on, comment your answers below!!!🖗🖗🖗 come on guys lets get this going!!!

The Twits Book Review

So I didn't get to the goal I set (100 views, 2 comments) well the 100 views part I did, but I reviewed The Twits anyway, because, well why not? Okay, here it is: (apologies for any typos)

The Twits

Book Review

The Twits is a children’s bestseller by Roald Dahl, first published in 1980 by Jonathan Cape. Like most of Roald Dahl’s books, it was illustrated by Quentin Blake. It has 270 pages and the price is roughly €3,00.

Characters
Mr Twit is a very ugly, hairy-faced man who never washes and is very cruel.
Mrs Twit is even more ugly and she has very ‘ugly’ thoughts as well, she has a walking stick and a glass eye.
The Roly-Poly bird is a colourful African bird who often visits England.
The Muggle-Wump monkeys are a family of four monkeys also originating from Africa.
Story
The Twits is a hilariously vile novel by one of the best writers in the world, from having worms in spaghetti and eyeballs in drinks to floating into the air on balloons and sticking birds to trees, this book has a ridiculous brilliance to it.
The book starts with an introduction called Hairy Faces, It’s basically Roald Dahl questioning why anybody would want to grow a beard.
After this, the book starts by explaining Mr and Mrs Twit’s personalities.
The next part is mainly Mr. and Mrs. Twit playing practical jokes and tricks against each other. The last trick is when Mr Twit releases his wife into the air on a load of helium balloons.

Mr Twit has four monkeys called the Muggle-Wumps that he trains for a circus. Every Wedsnday Mr and Mrs Twit capture birds for a pie by putting glue on the tree which they roost on.
One day the Roly-Poly bird comes to England for a holiday and frees the Muggle-Wumps who make a plan, for revenge against the Twits

Conclusion
This book is one of Roald Dahl’s bests, I doubt you could improve it very much, it is extremely entertaining, yet Roald Dahl shows the Twits as completely oblivious to each other’s and the monkey’s trickery, which is quite irritating. I would rate this book a 7/10.

Ok, so I just started this blog and I'm going to start off simple with an extremely famous children's book called The Twits by Roald Dahl (A legend of a writer!), I would say the audience of this book is aimed at about 7-10 years old. BUT, as I am typing this I have a total of 0 comments and 0 likes on this blog, so I don't fancy writing a bunch of words to a brick wall, so once I at least have 100 views and a couple of comments and I will start reviewing!
